What Tech Founders Need to Know About Financing. This book is a sequel to an earlier landmark book: Early Exits, by Dr. Basil Peters who founded an M&A boutique partnership: Strategic Exits. After Basil retired in 2022, David and Len Zapalowski re-launched Strategic Exits Partners to continue advising tech founders and their angel investors on the structure and execution of the optimal exit strategy for tech companies.  

During the webinar, David will provide a summary of the book’s contents, designed to equip tech founders with the knowledge they need for a successful fundraise. Most tech companies are founded by entrepreneurs who know their technology and markets, but know less than they should about how to raise financing to bring their innovations to life. The book contrasts the informal process of how tech founders can move from the 4Fs funding round (family, friends, fools, and foundations) to the increasingly sophisticated angel investment ecosphere and the highly structured approach of venture capital. As part of the webinar, David will discuss founder dilution in the VC rounds, and present recent statistics on angel investing, illustrating the significant impact of the capital markets on startup companies.

The goal of the book is to better prepare founders and their angel investors to develop the optimal financial and exit strategies for their tech companies.
